Journal Policies
1. Peer Review Process
Manuscripts submitted to RIPEDES undergo an initial preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Committee, which verifies suitability to the scope, standards, and content originality. After this screening, the works are forwarded to two external evaluators, following the double-blind review model, in which authors and reviewers do not have mutual access to each other's identity. The reviews consider aspects such as scientific relevance, methodological rigor, clarity of exposition, originality, and contribution to the field of Education. In case of divergence between the reviews, the article is submitted to a third evaluator. The average time between submission and the editorial decision is 8 to 12 weeks, which may vary according to the complexity of the revisions.
2. Ethics and Good Practices in Publication
RIPEDES adopts the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), committing to ethical integrity in all stages of the editorial process. Practices of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, falsification, or data manipulation are prohibited. All manuscripts undergo a similarity check before being sent for evaluation. Conflicts of interest must be declared by authors, reviewers, and editors. The journal encourages the use of international checklists appropriate to the nature of the studies (e.g., CONSORT, PRISMA, COREQ, STROBE, among others). Any suspicions of scientific misconduct are treated according to COPE recommendations.
3. Open Access Policy
RIPEDES is an open access journal and makes all its content available for free, without charging submission or publication fees. We believe that free access to scientific knowledge contributes to the advancement of research and education. Published texts are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), which allows sharing, adaptation, and distribution, provided the original source is cited.
4. Copyright and Usage License
Authors retain the copyright of their works and grant RIPEDES the right of first publication, under the CC BY 4.0 license. This means that the material can be reused, adapted, and distributed freely, provided that the authorship and the original source are properly cited. Authors may distribute versions of their texts in institutional repositories, personal websites, or academic networks, always mentioning the original publication in RIPEDES.
5. Digital Preservation Policy
RIPEDES ensures the preservation of its contents through:
• LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and/or PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), ensuring decentralized and permanent archiving;
• Periodic internal backup of all issues and metadata;
• Adoption of open interoperability standards (OAI-PMH) and metadata compatible with international repositories.
These measures aim at the integrity and continuity of the journal's collection, regardless of technological or institutional changes.
6. Fee Policy
RIPEDES does not charge submission, processing, or article publication charges (APCs). The journal is maintained by the Study and Research Group "Weaving Cognitive Learning Networks" (Grupo de Estudo e Pesquisa Tecendo Redes Cognitivas de Aprendizagem - G-TERCOA/CNPq/FACED/UFC) and has institutional support from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC).
7. Archiving and Indexing Policy
RIPEDES contents are indexed and preserved in academic directories and repositories, following the interoperability standards required by national and international databases. The journal uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS), which makes metadata available via the OAI-PMH protocol, enabling its harvesting by indexing services.
